More From France

Posted by on November 4, 2009 at 12:08 pm (Day 39).

So after Paris we decided we needed a break and opted for the somewhat chichi beach town of La Baule on the west coast (technically Loire, but everyone there considers it Brittany). There we did very little except, as intended, sit around.

After a couple of days, we shot back across the country to Dijon, where we discovered there is not, in fact, a mustard museum. There is though a creepy, yet mustardless, art museum and a generally charming air.

All our pictures from France are finally on flickr.

How come it costs 3 euros an hour to pick up your dog’s poop? Are you required to rent the bicycle to do it? And, est ce que vous cherchez les chiens, or est ce que ils vous trouvent?

Yes, the mustard museum in in Mount Horeb (also home of the great Grumpy Troll brewpub), but the museum is moving to Middleton, WI in the near future. If you happen to get to Nyons, though, you could probably try olive oil ice cream, about the only thing with olive oil I’ve tried and didn’t like.

Enjoyed all the photos from Paris! I see that you were quite impressed with La Tour Eiffel. It is very photogenic, I admit. There used to be a restaurant about half way up the tower which was a big tourist trap, but they dismantled it, and sent it to New Orleans, IIRC; don’t know where it is now. I remember that the view of Paris from the tower was spectacular.

Am waiting to hear your descriptions of Scandinavia as I have never been there. You are going to ride reindeer, right?
